Children and Later Trails

This section is reserved for later-life child evidence. No later spouse, death, burial, obituary, probate, separate household, or descendant-line identification has been added here yet from direct records.

Sources still needed

  • Accessible burial record or cemetery documentation for William H. Fountain; FindAGrave memorial #288314527 was identified but still needs direct review.
  • Death or burial record for Clementine Westbrook Fountain, who died between 1910 and 1920.
  • Marriage record or other proof for Martha Fountain and the Sarah Fountain named on William's 1924 death record.
  • Adult trails for Frank, George W., Bart/Bartley, Thomas, and Brown Lee Fountain after the 1900 household. Bart/Bartley and Brown Lee now have stronger FamilySearch-indexed adult trails; Frank and George remain limited to childhood/1900 continuity in the visible results, and Thomas has plausible but not fully bridged candidate records.
  • Primary proof for William Henry Fountain's full name beyond derived Social Security Applications and Claims material.

June 14, 2026 continuation check: The William H. Fountain FamilySearch death record remains the same core direct record: death 4 July 1924 at Berlin, Colquitt County, birth 6 June 1852 in Georgia, spouse Sarah Fountain. The pass did not locate an accessible burial image, Clementine death record, or marriage proof for Martha/Sarah. It did improve the sons' adult-trail section as noted above.

Research status: Source-exhausted for available online sources. The migration trail is strong, but Clementine's death, William's burial, later wife identity, and several sons' adult trails need direct records.

Notable patterns in this volume

  • Several households connect to established Barney-area family networks, including Alderman, Hiers, Strickland, and related lines.
  • The Black households in this section include farmers, laborers, turpentine workers, sawmill workers, and domestic workers. The census labels are brief, but they still show a varied rural economy.
  • Migration clues remain important. HH#152 is the clearest example in this volume so far, with a likely North Carolina-to-Georgia identification that remains short of final proof.
