Early settlers and their descendants
This crosswalk publishes the supported results of the 1900 Barney census audit and its later expansion. It includes 22 residents and 29 separately graded paths. A person may appear under more than one settler line.
The Ryall family page follows Isaiah Ryall and Rachel Ann Folsom’s children and their Alderman, Vickers, Jones, and Moody connections. Elizabeth Folsom’s will names Rachel’s four Ryall children as grandchildren; the earlier Lawrence-to-William Folsom step remains secondary-supported. The Vickers, Webb, and Swain pages distinguish the established later households from the remaining early-generation gaps.
Evidence grades
- Census- or vital-record supported: recent parent-child steps are named or placed in compatible households by census, marriage, death, or comparable records.
- Secondary-supported: a compiled genealogy supplies one or more early generations while local records independently establish the people involved.
- Strong probable: the relationship is well supported, but one part of the settler claim still lacks direct settlement-era proof.
Each generation is judged separately. Marriage, surname, proximity, or a shared household does not by itself establish descent.

Research underway
These lines are plausible but do not yet meet the publication standard. They are not presented as descendants.
- Mary W. Ryall, household 65: the marriage and census record identifies her as Mary Alderman, sister of Charles Wesley Ryall’s first wife Ruth. Her placement in William and Catharine Alderman’s family is supported; the earlier ancestor connection still needs a record-specific bridge before adding a graded settler path.
- Sallie Hines, household 144: an original-record bridge for the early generation and proof of the proposed ancestor's early-settler status are still needed.
- America Ingram, household 168: an original-record bridge for the early generation and proof of the proposed ancestor's early-settler status are still needed.
- Susan Joyce, household 186: an original-record bridge for the early generation and proof of the proposed ancestor's early-settler status are still needed.
- Elwin Ryall, household 191: an original-record bridge for the early generation and proof of the proposed ancestor's early-settler status are still needed.
- Stephen Elias Strickland, household 151: his descent from Stephen Smith Strickland is supported, but no reviewed evidence connects that family to the early Simeon, Archibald, or Simpson Strickland lines.
- Stephen W. Swain, household 163: an 1858 guardianship record identifies Stephen M. Swain as a child of Thomas E. B. Swain, but no inspected record connects Thomas to early settler Morgan G. Swain; the middle-initial difference also remains unresolved.
Scope
The audit reviewed 385 unique people: 201 heads, 162 spouses, and 22 boarders. No lodgers were enumerated. The complete person-level audit remains an internal research control. Absence from this published crosswalk means only that no qualifying path has yet been documented; it is not proof that no relationship existed.
