Family and settler connections
Lawrence Folsom
Path: Lawrence Folsom → William Folsom → Rachel Ann Folsom Ryall → Charles Wesley Ryall
Grade: Secondary Supported
Evidence: 1850/1860 household evidence and William's death certificate support Rachel as mother of the Ryall brothers.
Open issue: Original parent-naming records are still missing for the earliest Folsom steps.
In her will dated January 28, 1876, Elizabeth Folsom names W. R. and C. W. Ryall among her grandchildren and identifies them as children of Rachel Ann Ryall. These relationships are directly stated, but the will does not prove the earlier Lawrence-to-William Folsom link. Brooks County Record of Wills, Book 1, pages 126–128; recorded August 13, 1877.
Evidence grades
- Census- or vital-record supported: recent parent-child steps are named or placed in compatible households by census, marriage, death, or comparable records.
- Secondary-supported: a compiled genealogy supplies one or more early generations while local records independently establish the people involved.
- Strong probable: the relationship is well supported, but one part of the settler claim still lacks direct settlement-era proof.
Each generation is judged separately. Marriage, surname, proximity, or a shared household does not by itself establish descent.
