Children and Later Trails

This section is reserved for later-life child evidence. No later spouse, death, burial, obituary, probate, separate household, or descendant-line identification has been added here yet from direct records.

Family Narrative

Robert Roberts was born in Georgia, probably around 1850-1852, and died 15 July 1925 in Coweta County, Georgia. The 1900 census gives the most specific birth detail, June 1850, while later censuses drift to younger ages. His wife was Frances Lee, supported by the 19 January 1874 Lee County marriage record and by Georgia death-record material naming spouse Francis Lee.

The census trail begins with a likely 1870 Greene County Robert Roberts, age 18, living as a farm laborer in the Robert McWhorter household. The 1880 census places Robert and Frances in Coweta County with early children Samuel, George, and an unnamed infant daughter. An 1890 Brooks County tax digest entry for Bob Roberts bridges the move from Coweta to Brooks. The 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses place the family in Barney.

The Georgia death index records Bob Robert/Roberts dying in Coweta County in 1925, suggesting a return to the earlier Coweta County area. No burial or FindAGrave memorial has been located in the current online source set. A renewed FamilySearch pass also clarified the Will Roberts problem: a Georgia death record for Will Roberts, born in Coweta County and died in 1932, names parents Bob Roberts and Francis Lee, and a 1900 Coweta County census entry places William Roberts in a Robert/Frances household. This supports Will as part of the Coweta-linked Robert Roberts family cluster, but it does not close the adult trails for the children actually enumerated in HH#184 in 1900.

Connections to Other Barney Families

Robert Roberts may belong to the wider Roberts network that includes HH#189 Prince Roberts Jr. and the Prince Roberts Sr. family, but no direct kinship proof has been found. The older Peter Henry/Hulda Roberts connection in HH#164 has been downgraded because the refreshed marriage evidence names Hulda Williams.

Research Notes

  1. Robert's parents remain unidentified; both were reported as Georgia-born but never named in located records.
  2. Adult or death trails are still needed for Samuel, George, the unnamed 1880 daughter, Thomas, John, Frances, Amanda, Ruby Lee, Joseph, Benjamin, and the grandchildren Eugenia/Lugenia, Robert B., and Willie W.
  3. Elizabeth Cooper, niece in 1920, needs a Cooper-family connection record.
  4. Will Roberts is now supported as a Coweta-born child of Bob Roberts and Francis Lee through a Georgia death record and a matching 1900 Coweta census record, but he is not one of the children enumerated in the 1900 Barney household.
  5. Burial location remains unknown.
  6. Any Roberts connection to Prince Roberts Sr. should remain a lead only unless a direct source appears.

Online exhaustion update

The June 2026 pass exhausted available online primary/indexed sources for Robert's parents, burial, most child adult trails, Cooper connection, and possible Prince Roberts kinship. The authenticated FamilySearch re-pass closed only the Will Roberts note: Will's Georgia death record names Bob Roberts and Francis Lee, and a 1900 Coweta County census record places William with Robert and Frances. No safe source was found to name Robert's parents or to connect him directly to Prince Roberts Sr. The children and grandchildren listed above remain unclosed unless future courthouse, cemetery, church, probate, or local records surface.

Open Research Questions

Research Status

Source-exhausted for available online sources. The head couple, marriage, census trail, tax bridge, and death are documented. Most children and collateral Roberts links remain unresolved after online search.
