Connections to Other Barney Families
The Henry, Williams, Roberts, and Rountree connections are important but unevenly proved. The Williams link is direct through Peter Henry's 1888 marriage to Hulda Williams. The Roberts link is downgraded to a lead: Roberts household members may still sit near or around the Henry family network, but the marriage record currently extracted does not support calling Hulda a Roberts without additional proof. The Rountree link is strongest through Rosa Rountrie/Rountree in Peter's 1900 household and Huldah Henry's 1920 placement in William Rountree's household. The Roberts link is newly complicated by Huldah/Hulda Hendry's 1930 placement as aunt in Willie Roberts's household; that suggests a possible Roberts-family relationship but still does not prove that Peter's 1888 bride was born or previously known as Hulda Roberts.
The 1900 household includes four adult Henry children: Benjamin, Lucian, Joseph, and Moriah. Lucian/Lucias now has a likely local post-1900 trail: in 1910 he appears as Lucias Hendry, age 40, single son in widowed Huldy Hendry's Barney household, and in 1920 he appears as Lusious Hendry, age 50, single head in Barney. This is strong by name, age, race, and place, but the 1910 mother/son relationship should be read cautiously because Lucian was born before Peter's 1888 marriage to Hulda Williams. Joseph also has a probable local adult trail as Joe/Joseph Hendry/Henry of Barney, husband of Ida Lee Roberts, with records from 1904 through a 1952 Brooks County death-index entry. That trail is promising but still needs original-image review and a parent-naming record if available. Benjamin still lacks a secure adult trail after 1900. A 2026-06-08 targeted search found no proof-level post-1900 Benjamin/Ben Henry/Hendry tied to Peter; the Brooks County tax-digest lead remains weak and the Benj Henry mortality-schedule lead remains conflicting. Moriah/Marin A. now has a candidate adult trail through a 25 December 1901 Brooks County marriage of Mariah Hendry to James Roberts, but the extracted marriage record does not name parents and later Roberts records have not supplied enough continuity to prove she is Peter's daughter. Rosa Rountrie/Rountree also has a stronger but still candidate trail through Rosa L. Rountree's 1903 Lowndes County marriage to Baxter S. Blakeney, 1910/1920/1930/1940 Lowndes County census continuity, James N. Blakeny's 1923 death record naming mother Rosa Rountree, and a 1959 NUMIDENT entry. The trail is coherent, but none of the extracted records name Peter or Hulda/He?lie Henry as Rosa's parents, and the later records give an 1879/1880 birth range rather than the 1900 household's June 1875. Fortinon Brown, listed as mother in 1900, and Fanny Smith, listed as mother-in-law in 1880, remain unresolved identity problems; the 2026-06-08 pass found no independent identity bridge for either woman.
Research Notes
- Peter Henry's birthplace and age discrepancies need image-level confirmation across 1870, 1880, and 1900.
- Peter's death date and burial place are not proved. The current evidence places his death after the 1900 census and before Huldah/Huldy's widowed 1910 enumeration; a 2026-06-08 targeted web/local-corpus pass found no proof-level cemetery, obituary, probate, land/tax, or death-record hit.
- Argie/Argia's maiden name, parents, marriage, and death are unknown.
- Fanny Smith's relationship needs clarification. The 1880 census says mother-in-law, but the line could connect through Argie unless another record proves otherwise.
- Hulda Williams's identity needs follow-up. The older Roberts claim conflicts with current FamilySearch and Ancestry marriage-index extractions; the marriage image and any Williams/Roberts bridge should be checked before using either maiden-name claim as final.
- Fortinon Brown's relationship to Peter or Hulda is unresolved despite the 1900 relationship field.
- Benjamin Henry still needs an adult trail after 1900. Moriah/Marin A. Henry has a candidate 1901 Brooks County marriage to James Roberts, but later Roberts continuity and parent-linking evidence remain missing. Lucian/Lucias/Lusious has likely 1910 and 1920 Barney placements, and Joseph/Joe has a probable Barney trail with Ida Lee Roberts, but both trails still need original-image review and parent-linking records if available. The Benj Henry mortality-schedule hit dated December 1879 conflicts with Benjamin's 1880 population-census placement and is only a lead until county/image context is checked. A 2026-06-08 gap pass closed this as a negative search, not a proof resolution: no secure Benjamin, Moriah/Mariah, or Rosa parent-linking record was found beyond the candidate trails already cited.
- Rosa Rountrie/Rountree has a coherent candidate Rosa L. Rountree / Baxter S. Blakeney trail in Lowndes County from 1903 through 1959, now including 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940 census continuity, but no direct record yet ties that Rosa to Peter Henry's household or proves the exact Rountree connection.
- The possible relationship between Joe Hendrey in HH#187 and the Peter Henry family remains only a surname lead.

Research Status
- Status: Source-Researched, not Source-Exhausted.
- Strengths: The entry now has direct FamilySearch extraction for Peter Henry in 1870, Peter Handry/Henry in 1880, Peter Henry in 1900, and an 1888 Brooks County marriage index naming Peter Henry and Hulda Williams. It also has later placements for widowed Huldy/Huldah Hendry in 1910, 1920, and 1930, a Brooks County death-index lead in 1934, a likely 1910/1920 Lucian-to-Lucias/Lusious Hendry trail, and a probable 1904-1952 Joseph-to-Joe/Joseph Hendry/Henry trail in Barney.
- Remaining cautions: The matching HH#164 research log was retro-built from the encyclopedia entry and has now been refreshed through a 2026-06-08 targeted gap pass, but image-level review and full certificate pulls remain needed. The older Hulda Roberts claim is not accepted as proved. Peter's exact death/burial/probate, Benjamin's adult trail, Moriah/Mariah's parent-linked adult trail, Rosa's parent proof, Argie/Argia's identity, Fanny Smith's exact connection, and Fortinon Brown's identity remain unresolved after targeted negative searches. Lucian and Joseph have likely/probable trails but still need original-image review and direct parent-linking records if available.
