HH#171 Mary Turner (Source-Researched): Mary Ann Royal Turner, Isaac's mother, is the widowed head of HH#171. Her 1880 census includes Isaac Mc D. Turner, age 23, single, in her household. Two of Mary's daughters (Mollie and Nancy Orelia) married Alderman men, creating a Turner-to-Alderman link independent of Isaac's marriage.

HH#175 Charlie W. Turner (Well-Researched): Charlie is Isaac's younger brother, also a son of Job Turner and Mary A.R. Turner. The 1880 census lists both in the parental household.

HH#176 Jonathan Howell Alderman (Source-Researched): Isaac's first wife Nancy Ellen Alderman was Jonathan's daughter (book ID 15-2-14-8). This makes Isaac a son-in-law of HH#176.

HH#178 George W. Alderman (Source-Researched): George is Nancy Ellen Alderman Turner's older brother (book ID 15-2-14-1), making him Isaac's brother-in-law. Eleven primary sources document George and wife Isabel Coulter from 1870 through death. Isabel's mother identified as Sena Ann Saffold, resolving census name variants.

  • Isaac's sisters married Aldermans: The obituary lists two sisters, Mrs. Mannie Alderman (Moultrie) and Mrs. Hollis Alderman (Valdosta). These are likely the daughters of HH#171 who married into the Alderman family, reinforcing the Turner-Alderman connection from both directions.

  1. Nancy's death date: FindAGrave and Geneanet give December 22, 1905; the book "Aldermans in America" gives December 23. One-day discrepancy; primary record (death certificate image) not yet viewed.
  2. Mother's name variants: 1860 "Levi A" (enumerator misread), 1870 "Mary," 1880 "Mary A.R.," FindAGrave "Marry Ann." All refer to the same woman, Mary Ann Royal Turner. See HH#171 for full analysis.
  3. Isaac's middle name: Census records use "Mc" or "M.D."; FindAGrave and the obituary use "McDaniel"; Geneanet uses "Med." The birthplace "McDaniel" in Berrien County suggests the middle name came from the community, not a person's surname.
  4. Geneanet infant-death errors: Both John Henry Turner and Hosea Turner are listed with infant-death date ranges (1885-1886 and 1897-1898) on Geneanet. The obituary proves both survived to adulthood. Geneanet entries are community-submitted and should be verified against primary sources.

  5. Daughter identification: The obituary names four daughters, but matching them to census records requires inference. Mrs. L.C. Shadrick likely equals Grace (1910 census). Mrs. C.D. Symorette and Mrs. R.F. Hannon are likely Willie Mae and Mary Letha, but which is which remains unclear.

  6. Jessie E. F. Nelson marriage now proved: FamilySearch and Ancestry both show Jessie E. F. Nelson marrying I. McD Turner in Colquitt County on June 3, 1917. Her 1900 Worth County and 1910 Monk, Colquitt County census entries provide the pre-marriage trail; the 1910 household names parents Charley M. Nelson and Martha Nelson.

  7. Adult trails for children: John Henry is now directly supported through SS Applications, Wakulla County census records, obituary index, and Find a Grave. Grace, Mamie Ive, Willie Mae, Mary Letha, Marion McDaniel, Juanita, and Cecil Eugenia still need direct adult records where the current entry relies on obituary matching, Find a Grave, NUMIDENT hints, or Geneanet.

Research Status

Source-researched, not source-exhausted. Isaac's parentage, first marriage into HH#176, census trail, death, burial, obituary, Jessie Nelson marriage, and John Henry Turner's adult trail are well supported. The remaining work is mainly direct proof for Nancy Ellen's exact death date and the adult trails for Isaac's other children, especially where Geneanet contains known errors or the obituary daughter names require inference.
