Children and Later Trails

The child-by-child assessments below preserve the earlier research. The September 20, 2026 review re-inspected the parents’ marriage, 1900 and 1910 household originals, the 1906 death notice, the 1907 widow-support award and Annie’s 1923 death certificate; a follow-up review inspected Charles Benton’s and Mattie’s death certificates, Mattie’s sibling obituary, and Nina’s 1950 census and marker. Later reviews added Lula’s marriage and parent-naming notices, Annie’s marriage and 1950 household, Ninnie’s original death certificate and niece obituary, John’s parent-naming application index, Tennys’s Knight trail, and a qualified Georgia Bradford candidate. Other adult-child conclusions were not all revalidated.

Family Narrative

Household identity and correction

Isom Barney Ingram was a White farmer in the Barney district of Brooks County in 1900. This household should not be merged with Walter Benjamin Ingram of Monroe County; that earlier association was a separate-family conflation.

Barney appears in earlier records as Isam B. Ingram in 1870 and Icoum B. Ingram in 1880. Those records place him in Berrien County, Georgia, in the household of John L. Ingram and Martha A. Ingram. By 1900 he was living in Brooks County with his wife, America, and nine children. A 1906 Valdosta obituary reports that Barney died near Barney after a 25-day illness with typhoid fever and left a wife and eleven children. The obituary also names his brother as G. W. Ingram of Adel, tying Barney back to the John L. and Martha A. Ingram family cluster.

Annie America Folsom is supported as Barney's wife by the 9 November 1884 Berrien County marriage record for America Folsom and Barney Ingram, the 1900 household, the 1910 and 1920 widow-household trail, and her 1923 Brooks County death certificate. Her death record names her father as William Folsom and her mother only as Martha; the mother’s maiden surname is not supplied on the original. It names I. B. Ingram as spouse and records Mt. Zion Cemetery, not the combined Camp Ground / Mt. Zion wording. The relationship between those cemetery names needs separate evidence. The Folsom and Ingram families were near one another in Berrien County's District 1311 in 1880.

1910 widow household

By 1910 Barney had died and America appears as a widow, indexed as America Ingham. The household includes eleven children: John, William L., Del B., Walter W., Mattie, Charlie B., Georgie A., Nina, Tennis M., Lonla/Lula M., and Annie B. The surname is a transcription error, but the children's names, ages, and location match the Ingram household.

The 1910 household contains eleven children, but that later household count is not a list of the children living when Barney died in 1906. The 1910 original separately reports twelve children born and twelve living; the 1907 support petition reports twelve unnamed minors. These statements are retained separately from the obituary’s eleven survivors. Annie B., age 3 in 1910, may be a posthumous or near-posthumous child, but a precise birth record is still needed before using her to revise the child count beyond the obituary and census framework. Her inspected marriage does not supply that date.

Children and later trails

Child Current evidence assessment
Minnie / Ninnie Ingram Holloway Original death and direct niece bridge inspected. The earlier marriage/census trail is now supplemented by the 1974 original certificate and a 1965 obituary naming Audrey Bernice Holloway Jones as Ninnie’s daughter and Mattie Ingram’s niece. The certificate itself—not just the index—uses Holloway for both parents’ surnames. Preserve that source conflict; do not silently correct it.
John Ingram Parent-naming application index added. The Social Security Applications and Claims Index names Isom B. Ingram and Annie A. Folsom, with September 10, 1887 birth in Berrien. The inspected 1917 draft original and photographed marker agree on that birth date; the 1950 Ty Ty original lists wife Nancy E. The underlying application and original civil death certificate remain uninspected; the earlier census sequence is retained as supporting continuity, not newly rechecked in full.
William Lee Ingram Census-confirmed child. He appears as William in 1900 and William L. in 1910, with later local 1920 and 1930 Brooks County household evidence with wife Beulah. Find a Grave gives William Lee Ingram, 1889-1947.
Oel Barnes / Dell / Del B. / Pal Ingram Closed at high confidence. The chain connects 1900 Pal, 1910 Del B., 1920 Dell Barnes with wife Viola and daughter Alice, 1930-1950 continuation with Viola and children, WWI draft and service records for Oel/Oel Barnes Ingram, VA Master Index, Georgia death index, military headstone application, Social Security, and Barwick Cemetery burial.
Walter Washington / Walter W. Ingram Closed at high confidence. The trail connects 1900 Walter, 1910 Walter W., the 1917 Brooks County marriage of W. W. Ingram to Willer Page Humphery, 1920 W. W. with wife Willie Page and daughter Lenora, 1930-1950 Florida census continuity, a WWII draft-card middle-name bridge, California death index, and Rose Hills burial.
Mattie Louise / Mattie L. Ingram Closed at high confidence. The chain connects 1900 Mattie, 1910 Mattie, probable 1920 Macon nurse Louise Ingram, 1930-1950 Beaufort nurse records, 1940 and 1950 sister placements with the Holloway/Ninnie line, Cadet Nursing Corps/public-health evidence, SSDI, Find a Grave, and a 1972 South Carolina death record naming father Isom B. Ingram and mother Annie America.
Charles Benton / Charlie B. Ingram Direct adult parent bridge added. The original 1975 Virginia death certificate for Charles Benton Ingram names Barney Ingram and Annie America Ingram as parents; June 23, 1896 birth fits Charley’s June 1896 entry. Mattie’s 1972 obituary names brother Charlie of Falls Church, matching his later residence. The C. B. Ingram informant on Annie’s 1923 certificate still has no explicit kinship label there.
Georgia / Georgie A. Ingram Competing surname evidence remains open. Mattie’s inspected 1972 obituary prints Georgia Proudfoot of “Odell.” A probable Georgia Ingram Bradford trail now has an original daughter’s marriage naming her maiden surname, a 1920 Cook household, and a marker whose July 1898 birth agrees with this child’s 1900 month/year. A direct parent-naming adult record is still needed before fully assigning that trail or explaining the newspaper discrepancy.
Nina Ingram Adult trail strongly supported. Mattie’s 1972 obituary names sister Nina Barrs of Quitman. The original 1950 Brooks census places Nina, 50, with husband Edward Barrs; an inspected Oak Hill marker reads Nina I. Barrs, March 19, 1900–December 30, 1987, and the Georgia death index agrees on the death date. A direct marriage record and original death certificate remain open.
Tennis / Tennie / Tennys Ingram Knight Married identity strongly supported. The inspected 1930 original places Tennie M.,28, as William L. Ingram’s sister. An October 17, 1930 Brooks marriage joins Tinnis Ingram and Douglas Knight; the 1950 original places Tenny,48, with Douglas and their children. The marker reads Tennys Ingram Knight, December 14, 1901–November 20, 1983, agreeing with the death index on death date. Her own original civil death certificate and a parent-naming adult original remain open.
Lula / Lonla M. Ingram Original marriage and parent-naming notices added. Lula Mae Ingram married William Claude Webb on December 18, 1932, according to the original return and contemporary announcement. The announcement names the late Mr. and Mrs. Barney Ingram of Barney as parents. Her original 1998 obituary names Isom Barney and Annie America Folsom Ingram, reports November 19, 1904 birth and December 17, 1998 death. The original 1950 Columbus household and Mattie’s sibling notice support continuity; civil death and completed burial confirmation remain open.
Annie B. Ingram Original marriage and adult household added. Annie B. Ingram married Homer Howard December 23, 1926, in the original Brooks register. Their 1950 Brooks household lists Annie, 43, with Homer, 44. Mattie’s obituary names Annie Howard of Quitman as sister. A precise birth date, parent-naming adult record, death and burial still remain open; posthumous birth is not established.

Adult parent and sibling bridges

The original Virginia death certificate for Charles Benton Ingram, state file 75-034720, records death November 24, 1975 at Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital in Arlington, usual residence Falls Church, age 79, and June 23, 1896, Georgia, birth. It names Barney Ingram and Annie America Ingram as parents, Helen Duke Ingram as wife and informant, and Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley, Georgia, as burial place. The parent names and birth month/year bridge the adult to Charley in this household. The certificate’s military notation is not a substitute for a service record.

The original South Carolina death certificate for Mattie L. Ingram, 72-001775, records January 29, 1972, Beaufort, death, April 6, 1895, Georgia, birth, age 76, never married, occupation nurse, and parents Isom B. Ingram and Annie America, with Folsom also entered in the mother’s maiden-name field. It records burial January 31 in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. The informant’s handwritten surname remains uncertain and is not expanded here.

Mattie’s February 3, 1972 Beaufort Gazette obituary, page 11, was read directly. It calls her a Barney native and retired nurse, gives age 77 rather than the certificate’s 76, and names these survivors:

Relationship to Mattie Name and place as printed What this establishes
Sister Nina Barrs, Quitman Direct sibling statement and adult surname
Sister Annie Howard, Quitman Direct sibling statement; husband’s given name not supplied
Sister Mrs. M. A. Holloway, Beaufort Supports the earlier Holloway family trail; no expansion from initials alone
Sister Lula Webb, Columbus Direct sibling statement and adult surname
Sister Georgia Proudfoot, “Odell” Direct sibling statement; printed place not silently changed to Adel
Brother Charlie Ingram, Falls Church, Virginia Connects the sibling group to Charles’s later residence

The notice reports the funeral already held Monday at Carteret Street Methodist Church, followed by burial in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. It does not say February 7; the death certificate supplies the January 31 burial date. A survivor list is not a complete list of every child born or proof of when unlisted siblings died.

For Nina, the 1950 original, Brooks ED 14-1, sheet 20, lines 22–28, lists Edward Barrs, 49, wife Nina, 50, and four children, with Mamie, 76, recorded as mother of the head, not Nina’s mother. Nina is a primary-grade teacher. Her age, locality and sibling notice support this identification. The photographed marker at memorial 140812774 reads Nina I. Barrs / March 19, 1900 / Dec. 30, 1987; Oak Hill Cemetery attribution comes from the memorial catalog, not words on the stone. Georgia’s death index independently indexes December 30, 1987, Brooks death and residence, age 87. The original civil death certificate has not been obtained.

A suggested 1923 marriage of Nina Barrs to Eston L. Milton is not assigned to Nina Ingram Barrs. Likewise, a Social Security parent-role entry for Flora N. Ingram is a derived lead, not a basis by itself to expand Nina’s name. Bounded marriage searches did not locate a secure Nina Ingram–Barrs or Georgia Ingram–Proudfoot entry; this is not proof that those records do not exist.

Georgia: a probable Bradford trail, with the discrepancy retained

Mattie’s 1972 notice was re-inspected: it really prints Georgia Proudfoot of “Odell.” Neither word is silently corrected. The following Bradford evidence is stronger than the earlier AI-only lead, but is presented as a probable trail, not a completed parentage proof.

The 1920 original, River Bend, Cook County, ED 78, sheet14A, lines 2–3, lists O. J. Bradford, 20, head, and Georgia, 21, wife, both Georgia-born. The original 1946 Lucas County, Ohio, marriage record, page 78, no. 156633, for Evelyn E. Bradford Drought and Richard C. Bechtol, names Evelyn’s father Oscar J. Bradford and mother’s maiden name Georgia Ingram. License and ceremony are dated February 21, 1946. This is the daughter’s marriage, not Georgia’s own marriage and not a record naming Georgia’s parents.

The photographed marker at memorial 36868602 reads Georgia Bradford / July 5, 1898 / Jan. 9, 1988. The 1900 original gives this household’s daughter Georgia July 1898 birth. The match in name, maiden surname, birth month/year and nearby Cook locality makes the Bradford identification probable. It does not, by itself, explain Proudfoot or prove that “Odell” meant Adel. Antioch Cemetery, Adel, is the memorial’s catalog attribution, not wording on the stone.

The Georgia death index gives Georgia E. Bradford, 89, death and residence in Cook County, January 9, 1988, filed January 14. The original civil certificate remains uninspected. A suggested 1973 Harry Bradford obituary is another parent-role lead; its source image 889622668 returned “page … not found” and was not read.

Two Social Security candidates—Georgia Bradford born November 27, 1897 and Georgia B. Ingram born June 23, 1897—lack the necessary parent/locality bridge and remain unassigned. A search-result candidate Georgia Evelyn Bradford with July 5, 1898 birth but February 5, 1988 death also remains unassigned pending record-level reconciliation. Bounded Georgia/Oscar marriage searches did not locate their own original entry in the reviewed results; no absence is claimed.

Tennie / Tennys Ingram Knight: the later trail

The 1930 original, Brooks ED 14-17, sheet 13B, lines 53–63, lists Tennie M. Ingram, 28, single, sister of head William L. Ingram, with his wife Beulah and children. The occupation/industry cells contain overwriting; the earlier clean description “private-school teacher” should not be treated as an exact settled transcription.

A May 25, 1930 Florida Times-Union notice, page 31, Jasper column, says Miss Tennys Ingram, who had been teaching at Barney, Georgia, was visiting “her brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Ingram.” This is direct contemporary support for her teaching and a family visit, but the initials alone are not expanded to a full identity here.

The original Brooks white marriage register, Book F, right second entry, names Douglas Knight and Miss Tinnis Ingram, with license and ceremony October 17, 1930. The groom’s handwritten middle initial is not resolved here; the index reads W. The recording date is blank. The entry supplies no parents.

The 1950 original, Brooks ED 14-1, sheet 10, line 30, begins the household with Douglas Knight, 52, farmer. Sheet 11, lines 1–4, continues with wife Tenny, 48, daughter Charlotte, 15, son Wade, 9, and daughter June, 7. Both pages were inspected; the head is not inferred from the index alone.

The photographed marker at memorial 43226328 reads Tennys Ingram Knight / Dec. 14, 1901 / Nov. 20, 1983. “Myrtle,” birthplace, and Columbia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Nankin are catalog details, not wording on the stone. The Georgia death index gives November 20, 1983, Brooks death and residence, age 81, filed November 21. The original civil certificate has not been inspected.

A Social Security parent-role entry names Tennys M. Ingram and D. W. Knight as parents of Robert Wade Knight. It is not Tennys’s own application or a record naming her parents. The age/name/locality sequence, original marriage and household evidence strongly support the adult identity, but the remaining parent-naming original gap stays open.

The AI-indexed November 21,1983 Valdosta Daily Times obituary points to image908926194, which returned “page … not found” twice. That route was stopped. Its Georgia Bradford sibling claim remains UNVERIFIED and does not override the inspected 1972 wording Proudfoot. Tennys’s omission from Mattie’s 1972 survivor list is not proof that Tennys was then deceased.

John Ingram: parent-naming index and original checks

The Social Security Applications and Claims Index entry gives September 10, 1887, Berrien, Georgia, birth, parents Isom B. Ingram and Annie A. Folsom, and a March 1941 name entry. This is an extracted administrative index, not the original application; the SS-5 has not been inspected. It substantially strengthens the adult-to-child identification without closing the original-document gap.

The original WWI draft card records John Inghram, 29, resident Barney, born September 10, 1887, Adel, farmer, single, with mother and sisters dependent on him. The registrar’s report is dated June 5, 1917. No mother or sister is named there, and registration does not prove military service.

The 1950 original, Ty Ty, Tift County, ED 137-5, sheet 11, lines 26–27, lists John, 62, farmer, with wife Nancy E., 55, both Georgia-born. The name Nancy E. is retained as written; this inspection alone does not expand it to Elizabeth or independently establish the marriage. “Own business” in the work column is not a land-title statement.

The photographed marker at memorial 118092789 reads John Ingram / Sept. 10, 1887 / Feb. 13, 1954. Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton, is the catalog attribution, not wording on the stone. The Georgia death index reports February 13, 1954 death and residence in Tift, age 67. That age differs from the marker/application birth date, which would make him 66; the original civil certificate is still needed.

Bounded marriage and obituary searches did not produce an assigned original in the reviewed slices. A suggested 1945 Kokomo marriage notice naming a child Comer Y. Ingram and suggested Indiana records remain unassigned, not additions to this Georgia family.

Ninnie Ingram Holloway: original certificate and a niece bridge

The original South Carolina death certificate, 74-003474, records February 21, 1974, Beaufort Memorial Hospital, death; January 8, 1886, Georgia, birth; age 88; widowed; and residence at Bay View Nursing Home in Beaufort. It records February 23 burial in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. The informant is Mrs. W. R. Cochran, with a Savannah address; no relationship is written in that field.

The parent fields actually read “Isom Barney Holloway” and “Folsom, Annie America Holloway.” The earlier suggestion that the father’s surname was merely an indexing problem is withdrawn. These are anomalous original entries, not new evidence that Barney’s surname was Holloway. The broader identity chain and independent parent-naming records for other children remain necessary.

The June 3, 1965 Beaufort Gazette, page 2, obituary headed “Mrs. John G. Jones” identifies Audrey Bernice Holloway Jones as a Barney-born daughter of Ninnie Ingram Holloway and the late Matthew Holloway. It names Miss Mattie Ingram of Beaufort as her aunt. Audrey died May 26; the notice reports the funeral already held and burial in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. It also names daughter Mrs. W. R. (Sue) Cochran of Anchorage. That name is a useful lead for the later informant, but a shared married name alone does not establish that the 1974 Savannah informant was the same person.

Additional bounded searches did not resolve Georgia’s Proudfoot/Bradford discrepancy or locate Ninnie’s own 1974 obituary. Only the recorded result slices were reviewed; these are not claims that the records do not exist.

Lula Mae Ingram Webb: marriage and later life

The original Webster County white marriage register, Book A, page 96, middle entry, names William Claude Webb and Lula Ingram. The license is December 11, 1932, but the ceremony return says December 18; recording followed January 6, 1933. The searchable index’s December 11 date is the license date, not the recorded ceremony.

The January 1, 1933 Macon Telegraph, page 13, confirms a December 18 wedding in Cordele, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Strickland. It explicitly calls Lula Mae the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Barney Ingram of Barney. The January 1 publication date is not the wedding date. The photograph headed “Attractive Bride” beside this article belongs to a different notice and is not a portrait of Lula.

The announcement reports a University of Georgia education and home-demonstration work, describing “Baker county, with headquarters at Preston.” That county/place wording has not been independently resolved. It describes William Claude as stationed in San Diego with Navy aviation; this newspaper statement is not an inspected service record.

The 1950 original, Columbus ED 162-46, sheet 76, lines 16–19, lists William C., 46—not the index’s 16—his wife, 44, daughter Nancy A., 12, and nephew Jack Knight, 18. The wife is a welfare worker. Her reported age differs from the later November 1904 birth date and is retained rather than recalculated.

Her December 19, 1998 Ledger-Enquirer obituary, page 31, reports December 17 death at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, age 94, and November 19, 1904 birth in Brooks County. It names parents Isom Barney Ingram and Annie America Folsom Ingram, surviving husband William Claude Webb, and daughter Nancy Webb Petras. It reports teaching and home-demonstration work in Stewart and Webster counties. The notice announces a service at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus; prospective arrangements are not proof of completed burial. The original civil death certificate has not been inspected.

Annie B. Ingram Howard: a separate Howard household

The original Brooks white marriage register, Book F, left second entry, records Homer Howard and Miss Annie B. Ingram, license and ceremony December 23, 1926, recorded April 8, 1927. It supplies no parents.

The 1950 original, Brooks ED 14-1, sheet 2, lines 8–12, lists Homer, 44, Annie B., 43, Sara E., 12, Don, 10, and Ora, 86, mother of the head. Ora is not identified as Annie’s mother. The marriage, age/locality sequence and Mattie’s direct sibling notice strongly support this adult trail, but do not supply an exact birth date or establish posthumous birth.

A separate 1950 Brooks entry for Annie B., about 47, with T. S. Howard is not merged here. A suggested death-index entry for Annie B. Howard, 71, in Whitfield County with Murray residence in 1975 is also unassigned. Bounded cemetery searches did not establish a secure burial for Annie or Homer; no cemetery absence is claimed.

Connections to Other Barney Families

The 1870 and 1880 Berrien County records place Barney with John L. Ingram and Martha A. Ingram. The 1880 sibling group includes George W. Ingram, Martha J. Ingram, William J. Ingram, William W. Ingram, Nancy P. Ingram, and John G. Ingram. George W. is especially important because Barney's 1906 obituary names G. W. Ingram of Adel as his brother.

The strongest confirmed nearby connection is HH#169, John Giles Ingram, another son of John L. and Martha A. Ingram. HH#161 George W. Ingram may be part of the broader Ingram network, but the precise connection should not be assumed without renewed proof in that entry.

Original record reconciliation

The 1884 Berrien marriage entry, no. 448, names Barney Ingram and America Folsom, with a November 7 license and November 9, 1884 ceremony. It names no parents. This differs from the marriage year estimated from fifteen years married in the 1900 census.

The 1900 original, ED 9, sheet 9 A, lines 6–16, reports America, 33, born December 1866, with nine children born and nine living. The 1910 original, ED 21, sheet 13 A, lines 12–23, reports America, 41, widowed, with twelve born and twelve living. These are source statements, not independently proved birth histories.

The July 13, 1906 newspaper, page 4, was re-inspected. “Mr. Barney Ingram Dead” reports age 42, death near Barney “last Friday morning” after twenty-five days of typhoid fever, wife and eleven children, brother G. W. Ingram of Adel, and burial at the camp ground near Morven. The item is credited to the Adel News, so the relative phrase is not treated as an independently dated original report. The support petition below supplies an explicit July 6 date. The brother in this notice is not automatically George W. of household 161, whose separate estate reports a 1903 death.

The 1923 original death certificate, file 34150, calls her Mrs. Annie A. Ingram, widowed, spouse I. B. Ingram, and records December 8, 1923 death in Barney, Brooks County. It gives December 31, 1865, Berrien County, as birth, age 57 years 11 months, father William Folsom and mother Martha. Her birth date differs from the 1900 entry and her 1910 age. Informant C. B. Ingram of Carrollton has no relationship label on this certificate; it does not by itself prove that he is her son Charles. Burial is recorded December 9 at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The original says widowed, unlike the index’s married classification.

The original twelve-month-support register, Book B, pages 72–73, names Mrs. America Ingram as widow of I. B. Ingram, reports his death on July 6, 1906, and states twelve minor children, without naming them. The administrator, recorded as F. B. Walker, acknowledges notice January 7, 1907. The initials, date, place, business activity, and public role make Fleming Bates Walker the strong-probable identification. The appraisers sign January 9, and the court admits their report as its judgment at the February 4, 1907 term.

The support is valued at $4,868, including 245 acres, more or less, in lot 371, land district 12, Brooks County, described as the Ingram home place, with livestock, crops, equipment, cash and household/kitchen furniture. The boundary text mentions a branch, but its name has not been securely transcribed here. This is a support award, not the administrator’s deed, a purchase price, or a complete title chain.

America’s name, her widow status, the 1906 death, and Walker's administration provide a stronger bridge to this household than I. B. initials alone. The award does not name the children or settle the twelve-versus-eleven count. The separate estate sale concerns 190 acres in lot 414, not the lot 371 home place. Neither record identifies lot 523 or proves that these parcels were the same.

Research Notes

  • Original counts now inspected: 1900 nine born/nine living; 1910 twelve/twelve. Reconcile these with the 1906 eleven-survivor notice and 1907 twelve-minor petition without assuming a complete named child list.
  • Georgia’s 1972 Proudfoot wording has been rechecked. A probable Bradford trail now has original daughter-marriage and census support, but needs a parent-naming adult record and explanation of the printed surname/place discrepancy.
  • Nina’s marriage and original civil death remain open. Lula’s original marriage and parent-naming notices are now inspected; her civil death and completed burial still need confirmation. Annie’s marriage and 1950 household are inspected, but her precise birth, death, burial and parent-naming adult evidence remain open.
  • John’s parent-naming Social Security application index strengthens the adult trail; the underlying application and original civil death certificate remain uninspected.
  • Tennis/Tennie M. Ingram has a strong 1930 sister placement with William L. Ingram, but her later adult trail remains incomplete.
  • John L. Ingram's pre-1850 parentage remains undocumented in the current source trail.
  • Mattie’s 1972 certificate has been re-inspected; the informant’s handwritten surname remains uncertain. Preserve its age76 versus obituary77 conflict.

Military Service

Pal Ingram, the eight-year-old son in 1900, is identified at high confidence as Oel Barnes, Dell, or Del B. Ingram. His adult trail includes World War I draft and service records, a Georgia service card, VA Master Index, Georgia death index, and a military headstone application. Those records make his military-service trail part of the household's later history.

Open Research Questions

Research Status

  • Status: Source-Researched, not Source-Exhausted.
  • Strengths: The head couple, marriage, 1870-1900 identity chain, 1906 obituary, Annie America's 1923 death record, 1900/1910 child framework, and several adult-child trails are now well supported. Minnie/Ninnie, Oel Barnes/Dell, Walter Washington, and Mattie Louise are closed at high confidence. John now has a parent-naming Social Security application index, with original draft and later census checks. Charles Benton now has an original parent-naming death certificate; William Lee retains the earlier later-life support.
  • Remaining cautions: Georgia’s Proudfoot/Bradford discrepancy, Nina Barrs and Annie Howard still need the remaining vital-record links; Lula’s marriage and parent-naming death notice are now inspected, with civil death/burial confirmation open; Tennys’s parent-naming original/civil death certificate, John’s original application/death certificate, child-count reconciliation, and John L. Ingram's earlier parentage remain open.
