Children and Later Trails
This section is reserved for later-life child evidence. No later spouse, death, burial, obituary, probate, separate household, or descendant-line identification has been added here yet from direct records.
Connections to Other Barney Families
No direct marriage or parent-child connection to another Barney household has been proven for HH#156. The Prosser family of Thomas County and the Sellers line in Robeson County remain possible paths for broader family context. Dosia's 1930 residence with George B. Burnett in Winter Park is also a lead, but the record currently identifies her and her sons as lodgers, not relatives. No family relationship to the Burnett household has been proven from the available local and web-index evidence.
Research Notes
- Resolve Peter's mother by locating Robeson County marriage, probate, guardianship, cemetery, or church records for Hugh Flowers and Maggie/Mattie Sellers. Preserve the 1880 Mary C. Folowers conflict until direct evidence explains it.
- Do not use the 1873 Hugh Flowers estate packet as proof for Peter's father unless a separate record links that deceased Hugh to Peter's 1880 household.
- Pull direct records for Peter and Theodosia's other children only where they affect the HH#156 Barney trail. Carl is already the main child-line priority because he was the child present in the 1900 Barney household.
- Verify the 1949 Macon city-directory image before relying on the exact address or spouse spelling for Carl Flowers.
- Obtain direct cemetery or death-certificate evidence for Theodosia. The Florida Death Index entry for Dosia Flowars is the best available death source at present, but no online certificate image was located.
- Continue the Burnett question only narrowly: determine whether the 1930 George B. Burnett household had a kinship tie to Dosia/Theodosia Flowers or whether the census simply reflects lodging and employment in Winter Park.
Open Research Questions
- Resolve the open items flagged in Research Notes above with direct records before expanding this household narrative.
Research Status
- Status: Source-researched, not source-exhausted.
- Strengths: The 1900 Barney household is anchored; Peter is traceable from the 1880 Robeson County childhood household through the 1899 Thomas County marriage, 1900 Barney census, 1920 Colquitt County census, and 1926 Brooks County death record. Theodosia is traceable from the 1880 Thomas County Prosser household through the marriage record and later Florida census trail. Carl's identity is now strongly supported by his draft registration, marriage, census trail, death index, and parent-naming obituary.
- Remaining cautions: Peter's maternal identity remains unresolved; Theodosia's death and burial still need direct image-level support; several later-child name mappings are partly derivative; no direct Barney-family connection or Burnett-family kinship has been proven.
