Historic Family Line
Arthur P. Hall was part of the Bolin Green Hall and Julia Phillips Hall family. Through Bolin, Arthur connects back to Col. Enoch Hall and then to Sion Hall, the early Coffee Road settler whose home and inn stood near present Morven. Huxford's account makes this Hall line one of the families tied to the first settlement period, the early court sessions, the Coffee Road, and the old Morven community.
Arthur's separate 1900 household shows the next generation of that line forming a new household in Barney while his parents remained nearby in HH#33.
Source note: this section is based on Folks Huxford, The History of Brooks County, Georgia, 1858-1948, especially the Coffee Road, Morven, and Col. Enoch Hall passages.
Family Narrative
- Head: Arthur P. Hall (age 25, Georgia, farmer)
-
Wife: Emma Burney Hall (age 23, Georgia)
-
The preserved research trail places Arthur P. Hall in the household of Bolin Green Hall and Julia Phillips Hall in 1880 and then as a separate married head in Barney in 1900, supporting identification of Arthur as their son.
- In the 1900 census Arthur appears as a 25-year-old farmer in Barney with wife Emma Burney Hall, age 23, and the census indicates a recent marriage.
- The next documented marriage in the current trail is Arthur Hall to Flora Willis on 31 Jan 1907 in Georgia.
- Arthur's World War I draft registration card, dated 12 Sep 1918, places him in Barney, Brooks County, Georgia, gives his birth date as 7 Jun 1873, describes him as a merchant working for himself, and names Mrs. Flora Hall as nearest relative.
- The later census trail continues through 1910, 1920, and 1930.
- The 1930 census places Arthur and Flora Hall in Haines City, Polk County, Florida, with children Marguerite, William F., Lois, George W., Flora, and Dorothy in the household, along with divorced daughter Bertha Rivero and granddaughter Bettie J. Rivero.
- The current death-record trail identifies Arthur's death on 12 Sep 1930 in Haines City, Florida.
- A positive FindAGrave memorial for Arthur P. Hall identifies Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Polk County, Florida, as his burial place.
Connections to Other Barney Families
- HH#33 Bolin Hall: Direct connection. Arthur P. Hall appears as a child in the Bolin and Julia Hall household and is treated here as their son.
Research Notes
- Arthur's birth year should remain unresolved here: the World War I draft card gives 7 Jun 1873, while the current memorial trail shows 1875.
- Emma Burney Hall's exact marriage record has not been found in the current trail.
- Emma Burney Hall's death or other direct end-of-marriage record has not been found in the current trail.
- Emma Burney Hall's family and parentage should remain undocumented here unless direct records are found.
- Flora Willis Hall's parental and wider family line should remain undocumented here unless direct records are found.
- The second-family child list should be stated only from exact census or vital-record extracts; the currently documented household evidence is 1910, 1920, and 1930 census based.
- If the Florida burial claim is used in stronger form later, pull the exact cemetery or memorial source view again rather than relying only on summary text.
Open Research Questions
- Parentage audit: confirm both parents of the household head for HH#34 through direct or near-direct records where possible; mark derivative-only parent links as unresolved until supported.
- Child census audit: confirm every child named in the 1900 household against later census, marriage, death, obituary, cemetery, probate, or draft records; separate proven child links from same-name candidates.
- Other household member audit: verify boarders, servants, in-laws, stepchildren, grandchildren, and unrelated residents in HH#34; document the exact relationship instead of assuming kinship.
- Spouse and marriage audit: locate marriage records, death records, divorce records, or later census records for spouses or absent spouses tied to this household.
- Direct image review: re-check the 1900 census image and any cited index-only sources before treating ages, relationships, birthplaces, or name spellings as final.
Research Status
- Status: Materially strengthened; not yet source-exhausted.
- Strengths: The current research trail uses the 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses, the 1907 Arthur Hall–Flora Willis marriage record, Arthur's 1930 Florida death record and Florida death-index entry, his 1918 World War I draft registration card, and a positive Florida FindAGrave memorial.
- Remaining cautions: This household still needs exact extract citations; Arthur's birth year is conflicted in the surviving trail; Emma Burney Hall's exact marriage record, death or other end-of-marriage record, and family background are not currently documented from direct records; Flora Willis Hall's parental or wider family line is not yet documented from direct records; and older narrative claims about Emma's death, Emma's parentage, Arthur's full child list, and the broader migration or career story remain stronger than the currently documented source base supports.
