Lula S. Collingsworth Hall

Back to the contemporary-reports table

Identity grade: Verified identity; strong probable school reference

Lula S. Collingsworth Hall was the wife of John Byron Hall in Barney household 46. She is the strong-probable identification for Huxford's private-school teacher Mrs. J. B. Hall.

Barney connection

John B. Hall and Lula S. Collingsworth married in Bibb County in June 1896. A contemporary announcement independently described Lula as a schoolteacher. The couple later lived at Barney.

Census and civil record

John and Lula Hall appear together in Barney in 1900 and remain identifiable in later Brooks County censuses. Lula's 1930 death certificate names John as her husband and Thomas M. Collingsworth and Sarah C. Maddox as her parents.

Military review

No military-service allegation applies to Lula. No service was proved for John Byron Hall.

Evidence limits

Lula's civil identity is verified. A surviving Barney teacher license or direct school notice is still needed to prove that Huxford's Mrs. J. B. Hall was Lula rather than relying on the unique local married-name match and her known teaching occupation.
