Michael Phillip Brogan

Back to the contemporary-reports table

Identity grade: Verified

Michael Phillip Brogan was the man called White Brogan in the 1898 Barney wedding reports. The marriage year, spouse, later census records, occupation, and family record establish the identity.

Barney connection

The May 1898 reports describe White Brogan and Ida Bullard or Ballard as Barney people who married in Valdosta. The couple's stay at Barney was temporary or ended before the 1900 census.

Census and civil record

Michael and Ida May Brogan lived in Warrior, Colquitt County, in 1900 and 1910. Michael worked as a bookkeeper in the lumber or sawmill business. They were living in Ashburn by 1920.

Military review

Civil War service was impossible. No Spanish-American War service was proved in the documented search.

Evidence limits

The census ages imply a birth about 1868, while his cemetery memorial gives December 25, 1877. The age conflict remains unresolved but does not weaken the spouse, marriage-year, occupation, and household chain.
