The Barney History Project: The people, places, and stories of Barney, Georgia

Jason W. Kendrick

Back to the contemporary-reports table

Identity grade: Strong probable

Jason W. Kendrick is the strongest candidate for the J. W. Kendrick who served on the 1901 Will Dodson inquest jury.

Barney connection

The original newspaper names J. W. Kendrick as one of six jurors. It gives no age, occupation, or residence and does not connect him explicitly to the Hall & Kendrick business.

Census and civil record

J. W. Kendrick married Ruth F. Pike in Brooks County on January 3, 1894. In 1900 Jason Kendrick, born January 1872, lived with wife Ruth in Militia District 660. The shared wife, marriage duration, initials, and county identify Jason as the man using J. W. Kendrick.

Military review

Born in 1872, Kendrick was not Civil War eligible. No later service was proved in searches linked by Brooks County, wife Ruth, or birth year.

Evidence limits

No jury minute, business record, or newspaper item explicitly expands the juror's initials to Jason. The match is therefore strong probable.
