Thomas S. Passmore
Back to the Foster Profiles index
Thomas Passmore appears in a 1904 Lowndes County timber-rights case brought by J. T. McNeill & Company. The company claimed an 1889 lease allowed it to cut timber on 275 acres. A May 21 newspaper report incorrectly said the plaintiff won. A correction published May 24 said the case was decided for Passmore, the defendant.
Lowndes tax and census records make Thomas S. Passmore the strong-probable defendant, but the court report gives no middle initial, age, wife, or residence. The original case file has not been found, so the identification does not rise to verified.
The case belongs to McNeill's wider Hahira business history. It does not prove that Passmore lived or worked at Foster, that the land was in Lot 227, or that Thomas A. Rozier was a party. The full evidence and source list appear in the Passmore and Culbreth business-network dossier.
