William McMullen
Assessment
William McMullen qualifies as a supplemental early settler with an identity qualification. Ancestry supplies an exact 1830 Lowndes locator, but the schedule pixels did not load during the preserved review. Two 1840 candidates—one in Lowndes and one in the Swaines area of Thomas County—must remain separate until their rows and household marks are read.
Huxford's McMullen sketch identifies the older William as born about 1782, husband of Lavinia Fain, brother of James McMullen Jr., and father of John and a younger James. Those relationships are secondary-supported because no probate, Bible, marriage, or parent-naming deed has been inspected.
The 1836 Lowndes militia return contains more than one William McMullin entry. The names establish McMullen men in the county's militia-age population but do not identify which entry belongs to the older William. They do not prove active Creek War service.
Identity controls
- The proposed older William must remain separate from William R. McMullen and later namesakes.
- The 1840 Lowndes and Thomas candidates are not merged.
- Lavinia Fain and the reported children remain secondary-supported.

Roster and Barney relevance
- Roster: supplemental candidate; census-index and militia anchored, with original-row work still needed.
- Barney relevance: broader future-Brooks context. No direct Barney connection is proved.
