William Holloway Jr.

Back to the Early History Profiles index

Decision

Supplemental early settler; strong probable identity across household, church, and land records. Huxford's Edmondson sketch identifies Elizabeth Edmondson, born 1801, as wife of William Holloway Jr. A derivative Holloway family account gives William's birth as May 5, 1802, and their marriage as January 17, 1825. Census-derived lists place William Holloway households in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 Thomas-side future-Brooks record, but William Sr. and Jr. must be separated on the original schedules.

Church and community

Bethel's compiled history lists William Holloway Jr. as church clerk in 1835–1836. It separately says William Holloway and William Newton were elected deacons in September 1856. The later entry probably concerns the younger William, but the minutes were not inspected and the name lacks a suffix.

Sharpe's 1884 historical series names William Holloway among the residents near Mount Zion. This supports community context but is retrospective.

Land

A reconstructed deed index records John Edmondson of Lowndes County conveying District 12, Lot 510 to William Holloway of Thomas County on February 20, 1855, for $200; Book E, pp. 600–601. The exact party is compatible with William Jr. and the Edmondson family network, but the original deed has not been inspected for relationship language. A later 1863/1867 deed-index entry involving Everett Solomon and William Holloway at Lot 445 may concern another or later William and remains unassigned.

Kinship

  • William Holloway Jr. + Elizabeth Edmondson: secondary-supported.
  • Elizabeth as daughter of Isaac Edmondson: secondary-supported in the reviewed family histories.
  • John Edmondson to William Holloway deed: association only; the transaction does not prove kinship without the instrument.

Barney relevance

Broader future-Brooks, Bethel, and Mount Zion context; no direct Barney influence proved.
