John Dean

Decision

Supplemental early settler; verified regional household tradition with a strong secondary family identification. Huxford's Allbritton sketch says Jane Allbritton married John Dean in Laurens County in 1812 and that the couple moved to Lowndes County about 1830, settled in present Brooks County, and left descendants. Census-derived household lists place a John Dean in the relevant 1830–1850 sequence. The underlying marriage and census images were not inspected in this pass.

Identity and kinship

Jane Allbritton was reported born in 1795, a sister of Matthew Allbritton. The exact chain is therefore:

John Dean — spouse claim — Jane Allbritton

Current grade: secondary-supported. The compiled account states the marriage explicitly and is chronologically coherent, but no original marriage entry, Bible, deed, or probate record naming the couple was inspected.

John remains separate from Henry Dean and William E. Dean. No record reviewed proves they were related.

Public office

Huxford's 790th District table lists John Dean for a justice-of-the-peace term beginning January 23, 1833. The table provides a strong official lead in the future-Brooks Tallokas district, but the underlying commission was not inspected.

Barney relevance

Broader future-Brooks context; no direct Barney influence or descendant bridge proved in the reviewed evidence.

Remaining work

Inspect the Laurens marriage book, original 1830–1850 schedules, the 1833 commission, and Dean probate/deed records naming Jane or their children.
