James McMullen Jr.
Assessment
James McMullen Jr. is a supplemental early-settler candidate with a generational conflict. His name is legible on the original 1830 Lowndes schedule at stamped page 82, entry 108. That verifies a James McMullen household but does not distinguish the older James Jr. from every later namesake.
Three original deed locators place James McMullen on future-Brooks land. Enoch Hall sold him District 12, Lot 173 in December 1836 and part of Lot 174 in September 1836. James Taylor conveyed another portion of Lot 174 to James McMullen in November 1836. In 1844, James McMullen sold Lot 173 to Ivey Simmons for $3,500. These transactions establish a substantial local landholder but do not state his parents, spouse, or generation.
Huxford identifies James Jr. as William McMullen's brother and Rebecca Fain's husband. The same sketch identifies a younger James—William's son—as Harriet Rountree's husband. Three separate 1850 census candidates survive in Lowndes and Thomas counties, so none can be assigned to the 1827 settler without a deed, probate, marriage, or household bridge.
Identity controls
- The 1830 household is verified; assignment to the older James Jr. is strong probable, not direct proof.
- The 1836–1844 landholder may be that household head, but no relationship language appears in the extraction.
- The younger James, husband of Harriet Rountree, remains separate.

Roster and Barney relevance
- Roster: supplemental; verified household and future-Brooks landholder, exact generation qualified.
- Barney relevance: broader future-Brooks context. No direct Barney effect or descendant bridge is proved.
