Cyprian Brinson¶
Back to the Early History Profiles index
Decision¶
Supplemental Lowndes County settler; future-Brooks geography remains unproved. Census locators place Cyprian Brinson, born about 1810, in Lowndes County in 1840 and 1850. A Lowndes deed extract records a power-of-attorney transaction involving Cyprian and District 15, Lot 66.
District 15 establishes Lowndes County activity, not residence in the portion that became Brooks County. The transaction also does not show whether the lot represented Cyprian's home, agency work, or another legal interest.
Identity and family¶
Cyprian remains separate from Mills or Miles M. Brinson, Mills B. Brinson, William T. Brinson, and other men in the regional surname cluster. No inspected deed, census relationship statement, probate distribution, or family Bible connects Cyprian to Mills or Miles.
Cyprian's spouse and children have not been established from original records. The available census locators still require complete household readings.
A search result for the February 5, 1850, Federal Union reports that Cyprian and William Brinson sought administration of Stephen Brinson's estate. The newspaper host blocked inspection of the page, so the item remains an unverified source-specific lead. Even a confirmed administrator appointment would not, by itself, prove that Cyprian or William was Stephen's son.
Barney connection¶
No Barney bridge has been proved. A forward search found no documented child-to-grandchild chain from Cyprian into a Barney household, and a backward search of the Barney census and profile material found no Brinson household that could be linked to him. This is a bounded negative finding, not proof that none of his descendants ever lived near Barney.
