Children and Later Trails

No child-tracking items are open for this page because the 1900 table lists no children in the household.

Family Narrative

  • Serven Hall, age 19, appears alone in 1900 as a Black male farm laborer in Barney.
  • He reported a November 1880 birth in Georgia, was single, and headed his own rented house.
  • The census states that both parents were born in Georgia.
  • He could read, write, and speak English.

Serven Hall is, at present, a one-record household. The only direct evidence located for him is the 1900 federal census entry in Barney Precinct, Brooks County, Georgia. That record places him as head of household #128 on sheet 6, with no other household members present. It identifies him as a farm laborer, single, and renting a house rather than a farm.

No later or earlier record has been tied to him with enough confidence to extend his life story. Searches for him under likely variants of the given name, along with routine checks of later census schedules, marriage records, death records, draft registrations, and burial databases, have not yet produced a documented match that can be assigned to this man without guesswork.

The broader Hall presence in the 1900 Barney census is worth noting but does not, by itself, prove kinship. Other Hall households in the precinct include HH#138, headed by William Hall, and HH#140, headed by Henry Hall. William Hall's household included a son John Hall of roughly the same age as Serven, but similarity of surname, age, and place is not enough to establish a family relationship.

Connections to Other Barney Families

  • HH#138 William Hall: same surname in the same precinct; no proved relationship.
  • HH#140 Henry Hall: same surname in the same precinct; no proved relationship.

Open Research Questions

  • A childhood placement for Serven Hall has not been proved in the 1880 census.
  • No confirmed 1910, 1920, or 1930 census entry has been identified.
  • No confirmed marriage, death, burial, or WWI draft record has been tied to this man.
  • Negative searches should be treated as research context, not as household sources.

Research Status

Further research needed. The household is documented by the 1900 census, but no additional record has been confirmed.
